Cedar Bluff Reservoir and State Park

WaKeeney is the gateway to Cedar Bluff! Located only 7 miles east of WaKeeney and 13 miles south of Interstate 70 at exit #135, Cedar Bluff State Park straddles the reservoir providing approximately 1,000 acres of park. Camping (including cabins), boating, fishing, wildlife watching, and a variety of outdoor sports are available in the park. Seventy four utility sites are provided and large areas are set aside for non-designated primitive camping. The Park suits nearly every taste and includes two handicapped-accessible primitive cabins.

The 6,000-acre lake and almost 9,000 acres of adjacent wildlife area make Cedar Bluff State Park an excellent base camp for hunters, fishermen, and year-round explorers. High limestone bluffs provide spectacular scenery and a stunning rustic setting for all of the outdoor activities.

Anglers, hunters and water sports enthusiasts take note! Cedar Bluff has recently become one of the hottest spots in the country, a paradise for the water sport enthusiast, and a haven for both archery and firearm deer hunting.

So pack up your supplies and head for the lake, or if you desire a more peaceful nights rest return to WaKeeney to one of the many lodging facilities.



Hunting and Fishing

Both white tail and mule dear graze the prairies and woodlands, an abundance of ring neck pheasants can be heard crowing anywhere in the county and both the greater and lesser prairie chickens are increasing in numbers in this area. Other game birds available are geese, ducks, dove and quail. Trego County has over 19,000 acres, in 63 tracts, of private land leased by Kansas Wildlife and Parks available for walk-in hunting. There are still many private landowners who will give permission to hunt their land and fish their ponds when politely asked. This is all in addition to the public wildlife areas at Cedar Bluff.
